what I'll miss

P1030378Several nights ago, I was woken up to change and comfort a very constipated Squirt.

Before putting him back in his crib, we stood and swayed to the music from his CD, his head on my shoulder with Mr. Bear tucked between us.

I do not usually do well with broken sleep, but I woke up that morning feeling like I was lucky to be needed as the comforter.

Moms are moms forever, but I'm seeing how the role changes with the growth of each child.

I'm not sure if I'll ever experience the baby stage again, so I am soaking in how special each moment actually is.

  1. I feel that way exactly... especially with the last one. Even though it's 3 am, you still soak in that moment. Love ya, from one mommy to another...

  2. My Sweet Laurie Kate,
I, like you, got to experience each of those stages four times, although over an 18 year span from first to last. I still miss so very much those baby days. They were truly some of the happiest days of my life. I'm so glad that you savor them so dearly, because they are so fleeting and not always appreciated at the time. I love how feel the moment with your children.
    Love, Mom

About Me

My photo
Messy and wonderful perfectly describes my life as a wife and mom of five. I'm passionate about advocating for orphans by telling their stories and encouraging adoption and orphan care. My schedule is messy and wonderful as I am charged with four sons and one daughter. We love living in our little mountain ski town. We do a little camping, a little skiing, a little hunting, and a lot of laughing and loving. Life is dirty and loud around here but we wouldn't want it any other way. Okay, maybe a little less dirty!
